Student Weather Report Presentations

My students presents their weather report projects on Friday and I’m super happy with the way that most of them turned out.  Some of them went above and beyond and even dressed up to look the part.  Most of them did a good job injecting some humor or anecdotes into the presentation which kept the audience engaged.

This is the grading rubric that I used to give them their final scores.  What I did was sat in the audience with my computer.  I created a Google Doc based off of that grading rubric and wrote all of my comments on it.  By the time the students were back at their desk I had a shared the document with them and they could login to their Google drive and see the grade and my comments.  It worked really well, and the students thought it was cool.

I didn’t have any groups that weren’t prepared to go which was quite a shock to me, but there were a couple of groups that didn’t live up to the expectation that was set.  I had private conversations with these groups and felt good that they understood where the problems stemmed from.  Overall I was super happy with them and they all seemed to learn something new…including where some major U.S. cities are 😉  ! I will definitely be doing this project again next year.
