I have created a characteristics of organisms card sort activity that will help students with a lot of the middle school vocabulary that I have to teach during my biology unit.
The card sort helps reinforce the following concepts in a fun way. Each of these topics are included in the card sort.
- Autotrophic vs Heterotrophic
- Sexual vs. Assexual
- Prokaryotic vs. Eukaryotic
- Unicellular vs Multicellular
As a card sort game with a class set this activity will take about 20-30 minutes. If you print them out for each student and have them glue them into their INB, it will take the full class period. I have done it both ways.
