Learn about unbalanced forces in a fun, football game-style competition! You can play against a friend or the computer, choose your team helmet, and sharpen your skills by calculating unbalanced forces and moving the football to the end zone.

Rules

  1. Select the number of teams. (If you choose one team, you will play against the computer.)
  2. Select your team helmet.
  3. The game field appears. Each line on the field represents 10 newtons. The football starts on the 50-newton line and returns there each time a point is scored.
  4. The starting team draws a card. The card will provide a push or pull force. After drawing the card, calculate the net force and click the correct answer to move the football for your team.
    • Cards with a “PUSH” force move the ball in the direction of the push force arrow.
    • Cards with a “PULL” force move the ball in the opposite direction.
    • The current location of the ball is always a “PUSH” force. It points toward the end zone of the team whose turn it is.
  5. If you answer incorrectly, the ball will not move, and the next team/computer will get a turn. Be careful - sometimes incorrect answers incur a penalty!
  6. Each time the ball reaches the end zone, the team moving the ball earns a point.
  7. The first team to score five points wins the game.
