A New Take on a Class Periodic Table Project

Every year we do a periodic table wall project, but we have always done it with pieces of paper.  I found this awesome school periodic table project using cereal boxes on Pinterest the other day and realized that I was selling my students short.

This project is far more impressive to look at than a wall full of pieces of paper.

I really like how the teacher collaborated with many different grades to complete the project.  In Texas schools, the 6th graders could do the elements and metals/nonmetals/metalloids, and the 8th graders could do the research and the periods/groups.

One issue that we have always had is the quality of the element symbols.  I like how the element symbols are uniform in this project, but the box still allows for creativity.
